The Mt. Clemens Montessori School served the community for over twenty years as a private school. In September 2003, it became Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy when it received its charter from Bay Mills Community College. The academy presently serves 155 students from kindergarten through fifth grade.
The academy’s mission is to develop students with a positive self-image who can apply critical thinking skills, communication skills, creativity, cooperation and respect for others to changing situations. The interdisciplinary environment recognizes, develops, utilizes and challenges each student’s unique potential by addressing academic, aesthetic, emotional, physical and social needs.
Mt. Clemens Montessori is a diverse and engaging educational partnership of parents, teachers, children, and community, that nurtures a child’s love of learning and sense of personal and social responsibility using the Montessori philosophy and curriculum to develop the intellectual, spiritual, physical, artistic, and academic excellence inherent in each child.
The philosophy is inspired by the educational thought of Dr. Maria Montessori; the school’s program is based on her work in developmental psychology and education. True to her innovative spirit, the school adapts to new educational research, ideas, and methods of teaching that will enhance the child’s ability to learn.
